¡DEPORTEN A LA MIGRA!
(¡DEPORT THE ICE!)
We’re fed up with federal & local authories, politicians,
laws, vigilantes and paramilitary groups that attack our community of migrants
(people who cross the border to work) and immigrants (people who stay and make
their life in this country).
THE LAND IS FOR THOSE WHO WORK IT!
Without the work that our im/migrant community does, this country would not
exist. We build and clean buildings in our communities, we raise people’s
children, we grow and serve the food that people eat – we are a valuable
part of society and we demand that our contributions be respected. Even when
we are unemployed workers, we have human rights. Just like movements for the
redistribution of agricultural land, we demand democratic control of the land.
We the workers are the ones creating value from the land, and it is just for
us to have democratic control of it.
THE BORDER IS HYPOCRITICAL!
The products made by multinational corporations with the hard work of exploited
workers in our countries cross the border without any problem and go directly
for sale in this country and throughout the world, thanks to free trade agreements
like NAFTA, FTAA and CAFTA, etc. But when we human beings want to cross, seeking
an alternative to the dismal conditions caused by wars, multinational corporations
and corrupt politicians in our countries, we find laws, patrols, and even vigilantes
that prevent us from crossing the same border. This hipocritical system that
pursues profits and tramples human rights is the root cause of migration. We
call this system “imperialism,” and we condemn it!
NO MORE DISPLACEMENT!
The displacement that we suffer in our countries also exists here when the same
corporations that exploit us in our home countries make agreements with the
government to redesign (gentrify) a working class neighborhood and they kick
ou all of us who have made our lives and homes here. That’s why we need
to unite to confront the problem at its roots.
UNITY MAKES US STRONG!
The majority of our groups have a base in the Latin American im/migrant community.
Because of this, we believe that solidarity is critical between latinos from
different countries and cultures, and with popular anti-imperialist struggles
in our home countries. It’s also key to create links of solidarity with
other oppressed and exploited communities in this country, including immigrants
from other countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and with African
Americans, and Native Americans.
In our community, women suffer from discrimination not only from “La Migra”
(INS/ICE/Immigration Enforcement), but also because of sexism & patriarchy
in our society. Women’s equality & leadership is key in our struggle.
Our movement should cultivate respect and solidarity with im/migrant women’s
struggle. When women advance, there’s no man that will step backwards.
WE DEMAND DIGNITY & EQUALITY!
With or without immigration papers, with or without work, we all deserve our
human rights, and the right to equality – drivers licences, the right
to vote, the right to work for a just salary, the right to decent housing, the
right to health care, to education, and to the preservation of our diverse languages
and cultures. We also deserve the right to live free from persecution by “La
Migra” in collaboration with with police, and the persecution of racist
vigilante groups – whether they are on the border or in government offices.
IN EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD, ORGANIZE! In each community, from Chinatown to Bayview, from
San Francisco to Phoenix, from Baghdad to San Salvador, we need to organize
ourselves! Only with people’s power will we be able to create the world
that we truly deserve. That’s why, as a coalition, we follow the leadership
of the im/migrant community in this movement.
